Course Description
This course aims to introduce landscape design process by discussing major landscape design elements, concepts and principles. Moreover, the methodology of planning urban areas, national parks and recreation areas will be evaluated in the light of landscape design. The role of both living and non-living materials and their characteristics, landscape design standards will be introduced and discussed.
Course Objectives
- To develop a general understanding on landscape issues in terms of introducing various concepts and contexts.
- To evaluate landscape design as a natural and cultural phenomenon, not only as a technical issue.
- To give detailed information about different range of projects in different context and scales to inspire students.
Course Organization
This course is planned as a lecture and discussion course. It will introduce students about the concepts of landscape design including its strategies, design considerations, and legal standards. Course hours may be supported by educational media such as videos and documentaries on landscape architecture and design.
